clma scholarship

PURPOSE:

Three scholarship grants are available to financially assist talented people pursuing education in the field of laboratory medicine. The scholarships are being offered to current undergraduate students who are Maine residents and who wish to become a Medical Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Scientist), a Medical Laboratory Technician, a Histotechnologist, a Cytologist, or to a clinical laboratory scientist working towards an advanced degree.

Additionally a scholarship grant is available to financially assist a talented high school senior pursuing education in the field of laboratory medicine. This scholarship amount will be $500 for each year successfully completed (must retain a GPA of 2.5) through the end of the clinical year of study.

AMOUNT:

Three Scholarships of $1,000 will be offered in 2004.  The Maine Chapter of the CLMA reserves the right not to award the grant for any reason.

APPLICATION:

1. Complete the application form. (Copies may be made as needed)

2. Include a printed essay completed as described on the application.

3. Send a transcript of college grades.

4. Provide two letters of recommendation from teachers or employers.

5. Forward all material for the three scholarships by May 4, 2004 and material on the high school senior scholarship by May 17, 2004 to:

Decisions will be based on academic performance, character, commitment to laboratory medicine, and financial need. Final decision of the recipients of the scholarship grants resides with the Board of Directors of the Maine Chapter of CLMA. Recipients of the scholarships may be asked to provide proof of tuition payment.
